Spring Refresh: Awaken Your Space and Mind

As the first day of spring graces us with its presence, it’s the perfect time to breathe new life into your surroundings with a spring refresh. Spring isn’t just a change in weather; it’s a state of mind. It’s about shedding the heaviness of winter and embracing the lightness and vibrancy that comes with the season. One of the most delightful ways to welcome spring is by refreshing your environment, infusing it with colors, decor, and cleanliness that speak to your soul and uplift your spirits.

🎨 Color Therapy:

Let’s start with color – the simplest yet most powerful way to transform any space during a spring refresh. Consider introducing hues that resonate with you. Choose colors that evoke joy and optimism and watch as your space comes alive with energy.

Here’s my before:

I had lived in my house for two years and left the light blue color I moved into, but it totally wasn’t me. I waited too long to change my environment as I started to really feel not at home and unmotivated by the color that surrounded me.

Here’s my after:

After painting just one wall with this Deep Veridian color, I immediately felt joy. Once the kitchen and living room were totally made over, it was just inspiring. I created a happy environment for myself, one that I could thrive in and feel calm and peace in. I also found a boho, floral wallpaper that totally fit my personally and worked great alongside the new color.

🌿 Bringing Nature Indoors:

Invite spring right into your home! Incorporate elements of nature such as fresh flowers, potted plants, or botanical prints to infuse your space with a sense of vitality and renewal. Not only do they add visual interest, but they also promote a sense of well-being. Here are some benefits to adding live houseplants during your spring refresh:

  • Air Purification: Houseplants can help remove toxins and pollutants from the air, creating a healthier environment for breathing.
  • Stress Reduction: Research has shown that spending time around plants and greenery can reduce stress levels and promote a sense of calm and well-being.
  • Enhanced Mood: Indoor plants can have a positive effect on mental health, boosting mood and reducing feelings of anxiety and depression. The presence of greenery can create a more relaxing and enjoyable living space.
  • Improved Focus and Productivity: Having plants in your home or workspace has been linked to increased concentration, productivity, and creativity. The sight of greenery can help stimulate the brain and improve cognitive function.
  • Biophilic Connection: Incorporating elements of nature into indoor spaces, such as houseplants, fosters a deeper connection with the natural world, which is essential for our overall health and well-being.
  • Decorative Element: In addition to their health benefits, live houseplants also serve as beautiful and versatile decorative accents, adding color, texture, and life to any room.
  • Therapeutic Hobby: Taking care of houseplants can be rewarding and therapeutic It provides a sense of accomplishment and nurturing as you watch your plants grow.
  • Sound Absorption: Some houseplants help absorb and dampen noise creating a quieter, more peaceful environment.
  • Eco-Friendly: Incorporating live houseplants into your home is a sustainable choice that supports environmental conservation and promotes eco-friendly living practices.

🏡 Declutter & Cleanse:

A cluttered space can lead to a cluttered mind, so take this opportunity to declutter and streamline your surroundings. Clear out any unnecessary items, organize your belongings, and give your space a thorough cleanse. There’s something incredibly satisfying about a tidy, clutter-free environment. It creates space for new possibilities and allows energy to flow freely.

A few tips:

  1. Repurpose Old Items: Instead of buying new organizers, get creative with items you already have. For example, use old wooden crates as shelving units or repurpose a ladder as a stylish bookshelf.
  2. Vertical Gardening: Maximize your space by creating a vertical garden. Hang planters on walls or use a shoe organizer to grow herbs and small plants vertically.
  3. Digital Decluttering: Spring cleaning isn’t just about tidying physical spaces; it’s also a great time to declutter your digital life. Sort through digital files, unsubscribe from unnecessary emails, and organize your computer desktop and apps.
  4. Drawer Dividers from Cardboard: Cut and fold cardboard pieces to create custom drawer dividers. This inexpensive solution helps keep drawers organized and prevents small items from becoming jumbled together.
  5. “Fuck It” Bucket: Introducing the “fuck it” bucket – a humorous yet effective way to tackle clutter on a daily basis. Throughout the day, whenever you come across items that are out of place, toss them into the “fuck it” bucket. Then, before bed each night, take a few minutes to put away all the items in the bucket. This helps prevent clutter from accumulating and ensures that your living spaces remain tidy and organized, even on busy days. Plus, the name alone adds a touch of lightheartedness to the chore of tidying up!
  6. Don’t forget to finish cleansing your home with some fresh sage smudging!

✨ Decor that Sparks Joy:

Surround yourself with decor that brings a smile to your face and sparks joy in your heart. Whether it’s a quirky throw pillow, a piece of artwork that speaks to you, an update to a furniture piece, or a cozy rug that beckons you to sink your toes into it, choose items that resonate with your personal style and make you feel happy and at ease.

🧹 Fresh Start:

Lastly, don’t underestimate the power of a clean slate. As you embark on your spring refresh journey, embrace it as an opportunity for a fresh start – a chance to let go of the past and embrace the present moment with open arms. Allow yourself to be inspired by the beauty of the season and the endless possibilities that lie ahead.

So, as we bid farewell to winter and welcome the warmth and vitality of spring, take a moment to pause, breathe, and indulge in a little spring refresh. Whether it’s a simple rearrangement of furniture, a splash of color on the walls, or a full-blown makeover, let this be your invitation to infuse your space with joy, positivity, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Happy Spring Refreshing! 🌷✨
